Capitalising on the trading success of its city centre store, the refurbishment of this Grade II listed Victorian building enabled Waterstones to substantially increase its retail size and offer.

Given the continuing operations within the multi-let property, and conservation and heritage constraints, this refurbishment project presented design and construction challenges. The development was selected for the Lord Mayor's award in 2001.
