FIRST RESIDENTS MOVE IN TO LACE MARKET SQUARE, June 2007

As Nottingham's latest exciting new development Lace Market Square nears completion, the residents have now begun moving into the 46 apartments and with over 70% of them already sold - it won't be long until it's a full house.

One of the first residents is Duane Farmer from Nottingham. Duane is Chief Engineer of a luxury 57-metre, 1,000 tonne private yacht, currently moored in Monaco, and was actually the first purchaser at Lace Market Square - he wasted no time in snapping up the three-bedroom penthouse apartment.

Duane, 40, said: "I was instantly attracted to Lace Market Square because of its location and the fact that the area has such an interesting history. I was also drawn to the development because it sounded really unique. I spend quite a few months of the year travelling around the world, so it's nice to come back to somewhere I can call home. I was also drawn to the fact that so much thought has gone into the design of the Square and can't wait until it's finished.

"Now I've moved in it's everything I'd hoped it would be. The penthouse is quite unique, and the views from my balcony are out of this world. My personal belief is that it will prove to be a great place to live and I will be really happy here"

At the centre of Lace Market Square is an 11,000 square foot public piazza designed by Nottingham-based art and landscape design company, Wolfgang and Heron. Just 14 apartments remain unsold, with prices ranging from £155,000-£190,000 for the remaining two-bedroom, one and two-bathroom apartments with parking.

Design inspiration for the square has been taken from lace marking - not only with lace patterns but also from the actual lace making process itself. The Square has granite terraces with individually designed oak seating will allow for rest and relaxation.

Sue Taylor, 40, another resident who has just moved in, came to Nottingham from Coventry, and is fascinated by the history of the area. She said: "I was moving to Nottingham for work and I really wanted to live in the City Centre, but not in a mass of flats, I wanted some where with a bit of character. I read about the Lace Market Square and it sounded a bit different to other places I looked in to.

"Now I've moved in I am really pleased with it and I like the feeling of tranquillity even though I'm actually in the City. Soon I'll be able to look out my window and forget that I actually live in the centre of Nottingham!"

Richard Howell from Savill's New Homes Department has been personally dealing with the purchasers and co-ordinating the new arrivals, he said: "It is really exciting now the apartments are ready for people to move in. They have been so popular, with most being sold off plan, which is incredible.

"We have had some fantastic feedback from the people who have already moved in and they have been really positive about the development. The innovative design, landscape art and vibrant location of Lace Market Square has really made it stand out on its own and offer something truly unique to the City."
