ABOARD! LACE MARKET SQUARE IS THE 'SHORE'
CHOICE!, March 2006
What do luxury
yacht staff do on shore leave? Buy an
apartment at Bildurn's Lace Market Square
apartment development!
Sixteen out of the
46 Lace Market apartments have already
been sold, and are being snapped up
at the rate of nearly one a week.
And despite Nottingham being one of
the most land-locked cities in the
country, two of the flats have been
sold to professional seafarers!
A three-bedroom
two-bathroom penthouse flat was snapped
up by Duane Farmer, the Chief Engineer
of a 57 metre yacht moored in Monaco
- and just a few weeks later a two-bedroom
apartment was sold to Chris Douglass,
Chief Officer of a 77-metre yacht
currently being built in Plymouth
and which will be sailed to Barcelona
for the owner when the build is complete.
Both are from Nottingham, and wanted
to keep a base in the city.
This was just one
of the findings of a survey carried
out by Bildurn Properties to find
out who was buying the apartments
at Lace Market Square and what was
attracting them to the development,
which is due to be completed in 2007.
For seafarers and
landlubbers alike, it was the prime
location of the development that made
them so attractive - with restaurants,
shops and all the attractions of Nottingham
within a few minutes' walk. According
to purchaser Chris Douglass: "It's
a small, select development at the
heart of Nottingham - everything is
within reach."
And another purchaser
liked the fact that the development
was next to the tram stop as he could
get a tram to the station, get on
a train, go somewhere in Europe and
be back in work on Monday morning.
But it's not just
the Lace Market location which is
proving a big draw - buyers also cited
the landscaped central piazza as a
major selling point. Not only would
it provide an attractive centrepiece,
but it also set the apartments apart
from other city schemes.
So who is buying
at Lace Market Square? The purchasers
themselves are a mix of older couples
looking for a base in the city, and
young professionals eager to get a
first foot on the housing market,
often with the help of their parents
and of course, the seafarers,
looking for a base in a dynamic and
cosmopolitan city to spend their shore
leave!
Gail Richardson,
Head of New Homes at Savills says:
"Sales are being confirmed at
a fantastic rate, and it's great to
see that so many people are wanting
to make the Lace Market their home.
Our strategy for Lace Market Square
was always to appeal to owner occupiers
or people purchasing for relatives
rather than a remote investment. It's
really good that those who are committing
themselves really are excited about
being part of Lace Market Square and
also demonstrates that we've priced
these apartments at realistic asking
prices."
Prices at
Lace Market Square start at £125,000
for a one-bedroom one-bathroom apartment,
rising to between £160,000 and
£195,000 for a two-bedroom two-bathroom
apartment. For further detail call
